The Dragon Skin Pavilion is an amazing temporary architectural installation that was designed especially for the latest Hong Kong &Shenzen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture.
Made from 163 separate pieces of post-formable plywood — a new technology which allows the plywood to be molded after being produced as a panel. These panels were then molded and slotted together to create this fantastic dragon like structure. The specially formed “scales” allow light into the solid-seeming form.
Besides, watching the “making of” video makes me feel as if they had a lot of fun making it and that’s just an added bonus!
